Bokeh

Bokeh is a term in photography is a relatively new compared to the birth of photography was own. This term has been using since th 1996an, new and commonly used in photography book about 4 years later. Bokeh taken from Boke Japanese language - pronounced Bo Keh (noun, verb bokeru) which means approx blur, fuzzy, or something. Some people say it bouk 'h, some are saying it bouk ey. (Not a problem that is important to know what this means)

Bokeh looks because of the circle of confusion / disk of confusion / circle of indistinctness / blur circle - the circle blur out of focus areas, which occur when the optical spot cone of light toward the image sensor falls outside the range or focal point. Light distribution is area, which is quite different from the surrounding area, causing bokeh. The emergence of bokeh in the photo still want any moving picture is influenced by various factors interacting, among others:

1. The distance between the main part of the photo / subjects with a background / foreground Generally bokeh will appear when the distance between the main object with the background / foregroundnya far enough. But distance is not a fixed variable in obtain bokeh, still influenced by other factors, as well as the good and bad bokeh. 2. Large aperture diaphragm Narrow aperture diaphragm raises difficult bokeh. Generally bokeh will look at large diaphragm openings provided background / foreground blur no maximum. This means that bokeh will look when the piece is still able to distinguish dark or still have a gradation of brightness. 3. Lens focal / focal length The bigger the fire point of a lens, the more possible because of the emergence bokeh DOFnya increasingly narrow. The use of wide-angle lens is very difficult to produce bokeh. 4. Type / design of the lens including the lens chip material Lens design does not directly affect the incidence of bokeh, but very effect on the quality of bokeh produced. But unfortunately, not high-quality lens necessarily produce good bokeh quality. Lenses with different corrections, which improve the sharpness of the images, it produces worse bokeh quality. Lens reflex (Catadioptric lens), which include elements of the lens with a mirror, cause the typical ring-shaped bokeh, shape like a donut. This happens because the two middle cone beam focus that is not hindered by the circumference of the mirror that is placed right in the middle of the circumference of the lens (the smaller the circumference of the mirror) Soft lenses, generally produce less good bokeh, because the center of each soft bokeh less than the point of interestnya, necessitating a special filter to fix it. (Note: unlike soft out of focus in general) 5. The number and shape of pieces / blade diaphragm The number and the diaphragm pieces actually have no direct link with the emergence of bokeh, but only acted in the form of bokeh. Most lens manufacturers always associate the number of pieces of the diaphragm with the quality of bokeh, and unfortunately this opinion accepted by most photographers, especially those who lack an understanding of optical physics. In their understanding, the more the disc will get better bokehnya. When in fact more and more pieces of diaphragm just make bokeh more rounded shape, with the consequence of the more expensive lenses. There are other things about the pieces of the diaphragm to note, that is an odd number of pieces of the diaphragm, can cause effects that are sometimes looking for photographers, the star-shaped glow around very bright point in the region out of focus. But generally appear in a narrow aperture diaphragm. The number of beam lines generated 2 times the amount of disc, eg a diaphragm with a number of pieces of 5, will cause a star with 10 rays on each point of light. Diaphragm with an even number of pieces only leads to form a star with the number of jets equal to the disc, so that the diaphragm pieces 8 only produces a star with eight rays. But again it should be emphasized that it is only in form, not on the distribution of rays that cause bokeh.
